Thank you all for another successful year! On Sunday, September 22nd, we were able to put another year of relays under our belts.
For some, it was their first relay; congratulations! Oddly enough, we were able to pull this off without our relay constant, Andy Roberts.
I still think we can win it all. We need Shauna to run, and will have to register as a mixed relay team.
Our fast team finished at 3:36:07, and was in the Top 10 overall. The winning Mixed relay team finished at 3:40:27.
I don’t want to make Ravi, or Nikolas wear a dress. Lol!
It was a hot day with 2,000 people running in the various races. We started running at 7:30am.
Our super-fast relay team crossed the finish line at 11:06:07, and our last team finished at 12:18pm.
It started off in the low 60s, but ended up reaching the high 80s. We ranked 4th, 10th, and 11th place in our division.
In keeping up with our Xerox tradition, representatives from all of our teams, sprinted together at the end.
About the race:
Half Marathoners
- Sean - Another Xerox runner. It pays to talk in the hallways about stuff going on in life. Happy to have you on this thread, and hopefully we can practice and run together next year. Go Sean.
- Vinny – An 8:12 pace for a half? Vinny, come on buddy. Please find a fast female runner so we can get two fast relay teams next year. 8:12 for a half? Are you kidding me!
- Jan – You have that working out bug; I can see it. Don’t stop. Way to stay the course.
- Carlos Lopez – You and Jan have been working as a team for quite some time. You did it again on 9/22. Keep pushing each other.
XRXcellence
- Ravi – All I can say is welcome back. Glad that you are not injured this year. You rallied the troops and helped keep the team afloat. Way to be ready!
- Nikolas – Another year without breaking a sweat. This was so easy for him. Next year we need him to recruit some of his fast college peers so we can have two super-fast relay teams.
- Bill E. – Injured 2 weeks before the race! Man, that sucks. Thanks for finding a replacement, Bill, and coming out to support the team. Get better soon.
- James – Last year Mikey came to the rescue; this year it was you. Thanks James. Wow, did we ever need you. Hope we weren’t too crazy for you. Would love to have you do this again with us next year.
- Mikey – I think Ravi mentioned that the last leg was really flying. That’s you man! Our MVP again. Thanks for hanging in there with us. Next year, we have to win one.
XRXTheUsualSuspects
- DaTwan – What a summer for me! Every summer, I usually take off 5 pounds getting relay-ready. Thanks to tendinitis in my knee and not being able to do much of anything, I put on 8 pounds.
I wasn’t giving up the relay though. I was slower than normal, but I made it and that’s all that matters at the end of the day.
- Luke – He drove from Potsdam to do the relay with us, people! Come on! No excuses. I love it! For someone who didn’t practice at all, he crushed it. He even ate a light snack during the run.
No, I am not playing. To be young again. SMH
- Sebby – Your 1st race, Sebby...You were awesome! You had the whole family cheering you on. Great job, and thanks for joining us.
- Phil – Phil, Phil, Phil. My nephews are probably tired of me saying how great you are. I still recall you as a 10-year-old on our robotics team. Now you are in college running past me. Man, I’m old. Hopefully this will be your first of many relays to come.
XRX_NotFastNotLast
- Bruce – Another year running the same leg together. Both of us were injured and we still did it. No Excuses. Love your heart man. Keep running and stay healthy. Do that, and I’ll try to keep you on the NBA DL. Lol!
- Geoff – Another relay for you, Geoff. You are so ready for a half. I know it. You know it. Until you make that jump, keep joining us for relays. Thanks for slowing down for me.
- Dave – You were a veteran out there. This was your first relay, but not your first rodeo. You took off like a bat out of …. I am still laughing about it. Hope you had as much fun as we did. Sounds like you are in for next year. I can’t wait.
- Will – You conquered the last leg! I can see that the year in between has been very kind to you. You killed that leg this year. Way to go Will!
Carlos’ Relay Team, Avengers Boricua
- Carlos – Los, you called and said that you were a man down. We gotcha covered; you would do the same for us. Besides Andy and me, I think you probably have the record for most relays.
- Naji – What can I say Naji? I called you the night before the race and asked you to help Carlos out, and you stepped up. Seriously, who does that?! You get the "Andy Roberts Award" this year. Way to step up.
Our 5k particpant, limo driver, and my wife
- Winona – Bruce said it best in an email: “a long loud cheer for Winona, forever the MVP of MVPs”
11 years of relays! We do relays like no other relay team.
Thanks everyone for participating, and see you next year.
